Description
Apium nodiflorum – Fool’s watercress (now known as (Helosciadium nodiflorum) is an evergreen flowering plant found in ditches or streams and native to western Europe. It is traditionally gathered as a wild edible and although called Fool’s watercress it has more of a celery/carrot flavour rather than cress. Leaves smell of carrot when crushed. It is a useful perennial as shoots and leaves can be used in salads or cooked and harvested all year. It will need a site with moisture to thrive.
