Hardy and attractive herbaceous perennial vegetable with celery/parsley flavour leaves. Scots lovage is a herbaceous perennial and is dormant over the winter, plants will be dormant on arrival, but can be planted now and you will see new growth in the spring.

Description

Ligusticum scoticum – Scots lovage. Very hardy and attractive herbaceous perennial usually found in coastal areas. It is very low maintenance and compact reaching about 60cm (2ft) high and about 40cm across. Leaves and stems have a celery/parsley flavour, so a good perennial substitute for use in the kitchen and seeds can be used for seasoning too. Lots of white flowers over the summer which are beneficial for insects. Grow in sun or part shade, plants can also be divided when they are dormant in winter, seeds can be collected when they have turned brown and starting to fall off.
