Description
Musk mallow – Malva moschata Musk mallow. A robust native upright herbaceous perennial growing to 1 m (3 ft) tall. Beautiful flowers are beneficial for insects and are produced throughout summer and into autumn with pale pink flowers. The plants will self sow, but can also be propagated in spring by taking basal cuttings. The mild tasting leaves and flowers are a great addition to salads. Grow in any soil in sun or part shade; hardy to -35ºC. Plants go dormant in winter and re-emerge the following year, but root systems are hardy and plants sprout with the warmth of spring. You can plant out now, or pot up into a larger container and keep undercover until spring and transplant out then.
