Description
Wild basil – Clinopodium vulgare is a perennial flowering herb. The leaves of wild basil are used as an aromatic herb to flavour food and to make a herbal tea. It was used in medieval times as as a ‘strewing herb’ because of its pleasant smell. It can also be used to make both a brown and a yellow dye. It has been used traditionally used for the healing of wounds and has been shown to have anti-bacterial properties and treats stomach upsets. Beautiful pink/purple flowers in summer which are excellent for bees. Grows 30-60cm tall in sun or part shade
