Sea kale is one of our favourite and very long lived perennial vegetables. It gives you three harvests – the early shoots can be blanched with a bucket for a few weeks and are delicious, young leaves can be cooked like kale and unopened florets can be cooked like mini broccoli heads. Potential for sea kale to be bred and selected for larger broccoli heads and become a really useful broccoli alternative. Flowers are profuse and honey scented and attract many insects in summer.
