Wikay, Acorus americanus

Sam Thayer in his book ‘Incredible wild edibles’ describes Wikay as ‘A gift to the world and plant of a thousand uses’. Native to North america the rhizome has many medicinal uses and the tender ‘hearts’at the base of the leaves can also be eaten. Ours is living its life in a bucket until we can give it a proper home and the right conditions to thrive.
