Rhubarb-Timperley early. A lovely variety of rhubarb with succulent, red-based pink stems with a delicious flavour. It produces an early outdoor crop in February and March. Rhubarb needs an open, sunny spot with fertile, moist but freely-draining soil. Give them plenty of well rotted organic matter. Suitable for forcing.

Description

Rhubarb-Timperley early. A lovely variety of rhubarb with succulent, red-based pink stems with a delicious flavour. It produces an early outdoor crop in February and March. Rhubarb needs an open, sunny spot with fertile, moist but freely-draining soil. Give them plenty of well rotted organic matter. Suitable for forcing. Rhubarb plants ideally need to be planted within a few days of arrival. Choose a sunny spot with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Plant about 1m apart, with any dormant buds just below the soil surface, and water regularly. Its best not to harvest stems in the first year. From the second year, harvest about half and leave the rest to grow on while they are still establishing.
