Description
Szechuan pepper plants grown from our own saved seed. A perennial deciduous shrub from China and Japan growing 2 m (6 ft) or more high. They are mainly grown for their peppercorn-like black fruits, which are used a spice (peppery and fragrant) but the aromatic leaves can be used as a flavouring. Grows well in any reasonable garden soil in sun or light shade; hardy to -20ºC, it will also grow in a very large container. We have found that they grow quite slowly over a number of years. These are two year old plants with approximately 20-25cm of growth.
